Keeping Your Water Safe
If you rely on a rainwater collection system for the water you drink, cook and shower/bathe with, it’s important to get your water tanks cleaned on a regular basis. The Ministry of Health recommend inspecting your tanks annually, and we have found that cleaning your water tanks every two years is important to maintain the health and quality of your stored water.

Services
Standard Vacuum Clean
This removes the sediment and sludge that builds up on the bottom of the tank from leaves, sand, dirt, insects & small animals/birds etc that are transferred into the tank from the house roof and guttering.
- Using our modern vacuum-suction system, we clean the tank through the manhole without the need to enter the tank.
- This method preserves the clean water in the tank and will take approximately 1 hour to complete.
$250 + gst per tank
Deep Clean
If we think the tank requires this type of clean, we will advise you that this is necessary. Generally, this is required every 10 years or if there is a deep layer of sediment and/or the tank water is contaminated.
- This clean will remove almost 100% of the sludge, sediment, and scum from your tank/s.
- The tank will be drained.
- The floor and walls are scrubbed, and the interior is left clean, ready for a new delivery of water.
This clean will take anywhere from 2-4 hours dependant on the level of work required.

Water Contamination
As outlined by the government HealthEd resources, water contamination can cause serious illness, especially for the young, the elderly and those with fragile immune systems.
Contamination can be caused by:
- Bird or animal faeces entering the tank or source of supply (e.g. roofs and gutters)
- Leaves, soil, insects and other debris
- Wood ash, agricultural spray drift, and chemical residue from vehicles
- Cracks or holes in partially buried tanks
Regular tank cleaning is an important part of keeping your water clean and safe for you and your family.
